Lullabies for the Insomniacs

Brazilian illustrator Bárbara Tamilin illuminates Ella Grace Foutz’s memoir with a poetic, atmospheric book cover.

Bárbara was commissioned to create the cover art for Lullabies for the Insomniacs, a young adult nonfiction memoir by the U.S. author.

The book, written as a collection of poems, explores deeply personal themes including bipolar disorder and depression. Bárbara’s artwork captures this tender yet heavy subject matter through a dreamy nightscape, where soft gradients of starlight and a glowing lantern evoke both vulnerability and hope.

The design not only reflects the introspective, poetic tone of the memoir but also offers an inviting visual entry point for readers, balancing delicacy with emotional resonance.
