Seasonal Alchemy

Liam O'Farrell builds two seasonal worlds for Jacquie Lawson, from haunted gardens to patriotic kitchens.

Liam was commissioned by Jacquie Lawson to create artwork for two animated ecards, each rooted in ritual and celebration.

For Independence Day, he transformed a simple kitchen storyboard into a stage of enchantment, where rhythmic drumsticks coax flour, fruit and frosting into a triumphant red, white and blue centrepiece. His palette carries the cadence of the holiday, while the final cake, lavish and luminous, anchors the animation in appetising detail.

In contrast, the Halloween card drifts through a poisoned garden thick with atmosphere. A witch tends her deadly blooms among skittish mice and frogs before the spell migrates indoors, culminating in a darkly comic twist. Iron fencing, graveyard silhouettes and flickering pumpkins build a theatrical backdrop, balanced by Liam’s character work and close collaboration with the animator.

Liam's art achieved in elevating two seasonal moments into immersive, animated experiences that performed strongly with audiences.
