Arriving in Paraty

Evandro Marenda creates the cover illustration for July's 'Ciência Hoje das Crianças', Brazil's longest-running children's science magazine.

The issue celebrates the historic city of Paraty and the annual Flip (Paraty International Literary Festival).

His cover captures the feeling of arriving in the UNESCO-listed coastal town, weaving together its colonial streets, Atlantic Forest, beaches and the parati fish that gives the city its name.

Packed with the small discoveries and engaging details that define his work, the illustration reflects both Paraty's rich cultural landscape and the magazine's long-standing mission to bring science and culture to children across Brazil, reaching more than 60,000 public schools each month.
