Foiled Focus

For The Red Bulletin’s winter sports special, Ben was commissioned to create a hand-lettered front cover that balances momentum with space to breathe.

Working in pen, brush and ink, the lettering is finished with foil, a deliberate final touch that sharpens impact without dulling the hand’s presence. 

Collaborating closely with art director Marion Bernert-Thomann, Ben considered every word and curve, choosing precision over ready-made solutions.

It’s a cover that quietly insists on the value of making, where craft becomes the message as much as the surface.
