Stained

The cover of 'Stained'; a middle-grade novel in verse by Rhonda DeChambeau, is illustrated by Weston Wei.

Pubished by Penguin Random House, the novel follows a boy finding a sense of self through photography, using the camera as both lens and buffer as he navigates how he’s seen by others.

Weston’s illustration introduces us to the main character, Uly, who is content to hide behind his camera, finding the courage to step beyond it when he’s invited to become the photographer for his school’s mural project. Through his lens, Uly watches (and captures) as students come together to paint a local artist’s design.

'Activism, art, and identity collide' in this book, attractively illustrated by Weston.
