Summer by the Sea

Makoon was commissioned to create a cover illustration for Gyeonggi Provincial Council, centred on the coastline of Gyeonggi Province and people making the most of the summer season. The image brings together beachgoers, swimmers and visitors enjoying the waterfront, creating a snapshot of summer life by the sea.

Created during an especially hot spell, Makoon wanted the illustration to feel bright and refreshing. Her aim was to offer viewers a brief sense of escape, evoking the coolness of the water and the relaxed pace of a summer holiday.
