A Mystical Kyiv

Set in Kyiv at the beginning of the 20th century, Zmievy Sviatky blends the city’s history with a hidden world of spirits and myth. Getting the period details right was an important part of the commission, and Misha worked closely with Larionova to research the architecture and clothing of the time.

The collaboration drew on an unusual collection of references, including video walkthroughs of Kyiv’s streets and historical clothing documented in museums. Misha created the cover, custom typography, six detailed black-and-white interior illustrations, page breakers and decorative endpapers, carrying the book’s atmospheric setting throughout the design.
