Alissandra Seelaus

Based in Denver, Alissandra has a BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art and with her encyclopaedic knowledge of typography is able to find the right letterforms for projects across a broad range of themes and subjects. Clients are amazed by her attention to detail, creativity and polished, on-time delivery of original artworks. Scanning the world with a curious eye, Alissandra takes inspiration from the things that hide in plain sight: vintage signage, packaging and ephemera spotted in new cities and old antique shops, along with flowers, plants, animals and natural scenery both near her home and further afield. Her wider influences include the Rocky Mountains, Dutch landscape paintings, vintage National Parks posters and humorous wordplay, which feeds into her designs.

Approach

Alissandra’s approach is informed by 15 years of experience teaching art and her expertise using traditional media underpins her contemporary digital practice. All her lettering is hand-drawn right down to the finest detail, and each illustration begins as a pencil sketch establishing a direct connection between the idea, the hand of the artist and the work that is finished on her tablet.
