With his digital tools, Tobias Wandres convinces both, the communication world and the art world. He does not only hit the taste of his time, he forms it. His art, which he exhibits under the name "Paul Donda" are highly respected and sell very well. His illustrations are leading in style also on the international market.
Tobias Wandres lives and works in Wiesbaden. His path to illustration led him from his family background to studies at the Wiesbaden University. Today, he creates his work in a small, somewhat cluttered studio equipped with a desk and two computers. His best ideas come to him while listening to music; fittingly, he plays just about anything while working, depending on his mood. Tobias has no need for a traditional sketchbook; instead, he collects his ideas on numerous loose sheets of paper that pile up in a drawer. And if he hadn’t become an illustrator? His dream would likely have been outer space: becoming an astronaut.
Approach
Tobias works digitally, combining various tools and techniques. His Wacom Cintiq is central to his process, complemented by a computer, scanner, and various software programs for drawing, design, and image editing. He develops precisely crafted illustrations on the computer, starting from initial ideas and sketches. In doing so, he combines a natural flair for drawing with a confident command of digital media.Software
