Joseph McDermott — ポップアートイラストレーター、フィラデルフィア

When he was a boy growing up in New Jersey, Joseph McDermott remembers drawing the panels from his comic books, and creating scenes featuring his favourite cartoon characters. Now based in Philadelphia, he’s doing the same thing as a career and has developed a Lichtenstein-esque style based almost entirely on Silver Age comics. Before becoming a full time illustrator, he worked in an art museum for eight years. He has a Scottish terrier called Monty, a large collection of vinyl albums, and still loves his comics.

Joe McDermott is a Philadelphia, USA based illustrator with a background in art history. He creates Pop Art illustrations, employing a vintage comic book style to capture his subjects. His work is created entirely digitally with Illustrator and Photoshop. Joe’s aesthetic developed from a childhood spent lost in the pages of Spider-Man and X-Men comics mixed with the mature influence of 1960s Pop Art. He is as much influenced by Jack Kirby as he is Roy Lichtenstein, while diverging from the traditional techniques of his predecessors in favor of digital illustration. When not working, Joe can still be found poring over his favorite comics.
