Sic Monkie - United States based illustrator

Sic Monkie es el alias de David R Flores, ilustrador y dibujante de cómics californiano, cuyo impactante estilo gráfico transmite magníficamente la acción dinámica, pero con la flexibilidad suficiente para capturar los matices de cada momento. Desde lo serio hasta lo desenfadado, adapta su estilo a una amplia gama de temas, siempre respaldado por su experta narrativa visual.
Originario de Nueva York, David se mudó a Los Ángeles para convertirse en guionista, pero es un apasionado del dibujo desde siempre. Empezó a trabajar en storyboards para clientes de la industria cinematográfica antes de escribir e ilustrar su propia novela gráfica. A partir de ahí, convirtió el cómic y la ilustración en una profesión a tiempo completo, perfeccionando su propia interpretación moderna del estilo de la Edad de Oro para sus clientes. Entre sus influencias se encuentran algunos de los nombres más importantes del cómic a nivel mundial: John Byrne, Adam Hughes, Jamie Hewlett y Jock, por nombrar algunos, así como el gran Norman Rockwell del siglo XX. Le gusta trabajar estrechamente con sus clientes, priorizando la buena comunicación, el cumplimiento de plazos y la superación de sus expectativas.

A veces, David primero hace un boceto en papel, pero por lo general se lanza directamente a su proceso digital, bloqueando puntos focales, probando perspectivas y planificando cómo guiará al espectador a través de las imágenes usando su Cintiq o iPad.

Estilo

Si bien su trazo es fuerte y gráfico, y sus colores planos aportan un toque pop a su estilo, esto a menudo se yuxtapone con texturas granuladas para lograr una sensación retro con profundidad y atmósfera.
